Florida Gardens Baptist Church called Dr. Laney as senior pastor on June 10, 2007.  He is a native of Titusville, Florida, and attended Park Avenue Baptist Church while growing up where he sat under the pastoral leadership of Peter Lord. After graduating from The Florida State University with a degree in Religion, he spent 7 years serving as senior pastor at English Baptist Church in Carrollton, Kentucky, while pursuing his M. Div and Ph.D. at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.  Dr. Laney successfully defended his dissertation entitled "A Partial Hardening Has Come Upon Israel: Divine Hardening and Its Implications for Jewish Evangelism" and graduated in December of 2009.
