Each One Reach One

Florida Gardens Baptist Church (FGBC) believes that God has entrusted to every Christian the great mission of proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to the nations. At times, however, this mission can seem overwhelming.

Consider recent statements from the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force Progress Report:

According to best estimates,there are 5,845 people groups worldwide with no access to the gospel. This number means nearly 4 billion people have little or no access to the gospel.

Of the 340 million people in North America, nearly 258 million have no real relationship with Christ.

Although the population in America has doubled since 1950, Southern Baptists baptized less people in 2008 than they did in 1950.

In order to fulfill our calling as believers and at the same time deal with these overwhelming statistics, FGBC promotes an evangelism strategy of "Each One, Reach One." While traditional outreach programs and coldcall evangelism have certainly been used to lead people to Christ, FGBC has adopted the principal of "relational multiplication" as its primary outreach strategy.

Thus, the vision of "Each One, Reach One" is for every member at FGBC to invest in the life of 1 lost person each year with the prayerful desire of leading them to Christ and discipling them, and then repeating this process each year. As well, each individual reached and discipled will inturn take up the challenge to reach 1 person per year. This multiplication strategy will allow us to reach our community within years and the nations within a very short period afterward.

"Each One, Reach One" requires a mindset shift from traditional methods. The hope, however, is that by catching the vision of "Each One, Reach One," believers will no longer be paralyzed due to the staggering numbers of unreached people. Instead, the seemingly attainable goal of reaching 1 person for Christ each year will bring a renewed sense of urgency regarding our evangelistic efforts.
